Exam software is bought on report cards, because that is what the board sees. It breaks on scheduling, because that is what happens six weeks earlier when two subjects land in the same slot for the same students.
Competitor columns below come from each vendor's own published pages. The ScolaOS column was checked against source code, including one genuine gap that two competitors explicitly cover.
One caveat that shapes this whole article. Several rows below are blank for all five vendors. That is a fact about what this category publishes, not a finding that nobody has the capability. Exam scheduling detail is simply not something most vendors document. Read those rows as questions for a demo.

A fairness note. Campus 365's support documentation was unreachable when checked, so its blanks are the least reliable of the set. Entab and Vidyalaya publish module listings rather than specifications for several of these rows.
Where ScolaOS is genuinely ahead
Two rows are blank for all five competitors and shipped for us. We would not claim they are unique, because none of these vendors publishes scheduling detail at all, but they are checkable on our side and worth asking about on theirs.
Clash-checked scheduling. When exams are scheduled in bulk or as a group, overlaps are detected rather than discovered by a student sitting two papers at once. To be exact about the limit: this checks exam-time overlaps only. It does not detect a room booked twice or an invigilator assigned to two halls. Both of those remain manual.
Seating plan generation. Plans are generated from current enrolment, then validated, assigned, finalised and exported for invigilators. For a school currently building seating charts in a spreadsheet the week before exams, this is the single largest time saving in the module.
Publicly verifiable report cards. Every issued document carries a QR code that a university, employer or another school can verify without an account. Nobody in the table states this. If your students' documents get checked by third parties, it removes a category of phone calls to your office.
Teacher scoping that actually restricts. A teacher can only enter marks for the subjects they are assigned. Four of the five state marks entry, but none states how it is scoped, which is a reasonable thing to ask.
Marks validation. Negative marks and marks above the maximum are rejected at entry. Nobody in the table states this. It sounds trivial until you have corrected a report card after publication.
Where ScolaOS is behind
Weighted assessment components. This is a real gap and the most important line in the article for some schools. ScolaOS stores and displays component weightage and then does not use it in any calculation. Aggregation is an unweighted sum of marks over maximum marks. If your school computes a final grade as 30% coursework and 70% examination, ScolaOS will not do that arithmetic for you today. Vidyalaya states weightage configuration with automatic grade calculation, and Classe365 states category weightings that can be set per subject or per class. On this row they meet a requirement we do not.
Moderation with a recorded reason. A mark correction in ScolaOS overwrites the previous value. The system keeps who last entered it, but not what it was before or why it changed. For a school with a formal moderation process, that is insufficient. In fairness, no competitor states a recorded reason either; Entab and Classe365 state locking and approval, which is a different control.
Exam analytics. ScolaOS provides counts: totals, upcoming, completed, published, a status breakdown, an exam-type distribution and a six-month trend. There is no section-level analysis, no per-student progression over time and no cross-campus comparison. All five competitors state analytics of some kind, and Classe365 states AI-generated summary comments. If analysis matters to you, we are the weakest option in this table and we would rather say so.
Exam attendance. There is no distinct exam attendance record. Absentees are marked during marks entry.
Online and proctored examinations
Worth separating, because it is a different product from marks and report cards.
ScolaOS runs online examinations as a distinct subsystem with a question bank, timed attempts with server-side deadlines, autosave, randomised question order, retakes, and integrity monitoring covering tab switching, fullscreen exit, face and camera events and device fingerprinting, with a reviewer workflow. Accommodations exist as explicit overrides: extra time and relaxed integrity settings per student per exam.
Campus 365 and Vidyalaya state online objective and descriptive examinations. Entab states AI auto-grading under its learning module. Fedena and Classe365 do not state online proctoring on the pages checked.
If remote or invigilated online assessment matters, treat it as a separate evaluation from the marks-and-report-cards comparison above, because the products diverge sharply here.

Schedule exams without clashes, get marks in with the right teacher entering the right subject, apply your grading rules consistently, produce report cards in bulk, and control exactly when results become visible to families. Report cards demo well; scheduling and marks entry are where the work is.

Are report cards verifiable by third parties?
In ScolaOS, yes. Every issued document carries a QR code allowing public verification without a login. No competitor in the table states this. It matters most where transcripts and certificates are checked by universities or employers.
Can we control when results are published?
In ScolaOS, results can be published, scheduled, unpublished and bulk published by class, section, subject or exam type, with visibility enforced in both student and parent portals. Fedena, Entab, Vidyalaya and Classe365 all state controlled publishing; Classe365 is the most explicit that only published scores appear.
Is there an audit trail for changed marks?
Not in ScolaOS. Exam lifecycle events such as publishing and locking are audited with old and new values, but an individual mark correction overwrites the previous value without a reason. No competitor states a recorded reason either, so ask all of us how a disputed mark change is evidenced.
Which has the best exam analytics?
Not us. ScolaOS provides basic counts and trends with no section-level or per-student longitudinal analysis. All five competitors state analytics of some kind. If analysis is your priority, weigh that row heavily against us.
